General Information

Prices quoted on this website are in GBP. Please note that some coins are part of our own collections and many coins in stock will not always be featured, so please let us know if you are looking for something special. Prices are set on what we believe to be fair. Grading is subjective and can vary from collector to collector. We do not overgrade but grade according to reign, condition etc. Some coins are notoriously badly struck and grading may reflect this.
Hammered coins are pretty well ‘one off’s’ as it is nigh impossible to find two which are exactly the same.
Images on this website are not to scale and customers should contact us if they need to know the exact size and weight of any particular coin.

All the coins we sell are guaranteed to be genuine. We aim to keep our descriptions as accurate as possible and will mention any obvious and not so obvious faults. Please note that if you are not satisfied with your purchase we will refund in full less postage costs as long as you contact us within 7 days of purchase. Coin(s) must be received in original condition and not damaged. Responsibility for delivery, insurance etc. will be with the purchaser. We cannot be held responsible for returned items not arriving. Similarly, should an item sent by us not be received we will go through the required claims process with Royal Mail and keep you informed during the process which can take some time to bring to conclusion. Please appreciate that this will be outside our direct control.

Coins may be reserved by e-mail, telephone or post. Please note we cannot guarantee item availability. Although the site is constantly updated, coins could be sold at fairs, auctions or to non internet collectors. Once reserved, we will take your item off the sales list for one week (2 weeks for overseas clients) whilst waiting to receive your payment.

Payment

We prefer payment to be made in GBP by either electronic transfer or cheque drawn on a UK bank. Details for transfers as follows:

IBAN reference: GB81CPBK 089104 01180291

BIC/SWIST reference: CPBKGB22 (if they need two more numbers, they would be: 00)

Address: The CO-Operative Bank No.1 Baloon Street Manchester M60 4EP

Overseas customers may also pay by Bankers draft or electronic transfer.
US dollar cheques will be acceptable subject to paying the necessary bank fees. Please do not send cash in the post. Cheques should be made payable and sent to: A.Travis 26A Brunswick Square, Brighton & Hove East Sussex BN3 1EJ

Postage and Dispatch

Coins posted within the United Kingdom are sent by Special Delivery. This cost will be added to your Invoice. There will be a standard charge of £5 for items insured to £1000 and £6 for items to £2,500. Heavy, or more valuable coins (or multiples) may incur a slightly higher charge which can be advised at the time of purchase.
Items sent overseas are sent by ‘International Signed For Small Packets’ at a cost of £7. These can only be insured to a maximum of £500.

Couriers (Fedex, TNT etc) are an option for valuable coins. The cost to Europe, UAE, USA and the rest of the world is around £30.

Services

Search and find

We would be more than happy to ‘search and find’ on your behalf. If there is a coin or coins you are specifically looking for – and we haven’t got them – based on your budget, we will search the market for you.

Auctions

If you would like a representative at a specific auction to make sure you get that special piece at the right price, then we can offer you an excellent service. Our charges would be based on an agreed fee and commission mix.

Buying and Valuation

We are pleased to buy collections or single items. We would also give you an honest opinion as to valuation. We may suggest putting your coin/collection to auction if we feel that is in your best interest (or indeed if it is something you request). Our involvement in any auction would be to get the maximum coverage for your coin or collection and negotiate with the chosen auction house. Our charges would be based on a mixture of fee, commission and expenses. This service could ensure you have the best opportunity in the market to obtain the best prices, getting the best rates and exposure for your coin (s).

Please contact us to discuss any of these services in more detail.
