| King Henry V11 was born Pembroke, January 28, 1457. Born Henry Tudor, he was the first monarch of the Tudor dynasty. Henry was born at Pembroke Castle, Wales in 1457, the only son of Edmund Tudor and Lady Margaret Beaufort. His father died two months before he was born, which meant that the young Henry spent much of his life with his uncle, Jasper Tudor, 1st Duke of Bedford.
Ascended the Throne : August 22, 1485.
Coronation : Westminster Abbey, October 30, 1485.
Married : Elizabeth of York.
Children : Four sons and four daughters.
King Henry V11 died in Richmond, Surrey, April 21, 1509 and was buried in Westminster Abbey.
King Henry V11 spent most of his youth in Wales and in exile in Brittany.
On his death he left a full treasury.
King Henry V11 never appealed to parliament for funds. |
